## Description: This English mahogany circular extension dining table is based on a design by the famed craftsman Robert Jupe. Complete with its original leaves, the table’s circular top is formed of eight segments with a brass tip. When the top is rotated via the removable crank handle, an ingenious mechanism causes the sections to diverge, allowing a set of leaves to be inserted for an increase in space. What was once a table that could seat six to eight individuals easily transforms into a table for 12. This revolutionary mechanism is set upon pedestals that reside in its handsome cross base. Expertly restored, it comes complete with a later leaf-case enclosing its set of eight leaves. Such designs, known as "patent furniture," are some of the most fascinating pieces of furniture in the world. Tables such as this illustrate perfectly the Regency era's quest to combine technical innovation with superb and beautiful craftsmanship.
