After building a great reputation for the quality of their craftsmanship as silversmiths and cabinetmakers, the firm won prize medals at the Great Exhibition of 1851, the International Exposition of 1855 in Paris, the International Exhibition of 1862 and the International Exposition of 1878 in Paris. Bears an inset label for 'FARTHING & THORNHILL, 42, CORNHILL.' Circa 1820 29 1/4" wide x 23" deep x 39 1/4" high
