Crafted of elegant satinwood, the vitrine demonstrates the enduring influence of classical antiquity on English furniture design. Sheraton's book The Cabinet-maker and Upholsterer's Drawing-book left a lasting legacy on English aesthetic tastes. Sheraton revival style grew in popularity during the Edwardian era. Much like other Edwardian styles, it elevates rectilinear forms, architectural bodies with column-shaped legs, light and elegant frames and a preference for wood inlays and veneers.
